The results of a health services survey in Eden, which was conducted by the Collaborative Care Program, have been released and found 78% of respondents have difficulty accessing the healthcare they need.
The survey was conducted late last year and received 267 responses, with most respondents being female. Out of the 78% who had difficulty accessing healthcare, most said they had trouble getting an appointment with a doctor when they needed one whilst others found it difficult to afford certain health appointments.
The survey showed most people travel beyond Eden to access some of the health services they need. One in every two people travelled beyond the Bega Valley in the past 12 months to access healthcare, with many respondents noting this extra travel made it difficult to get the help they needed.
Local health providers are now meeting to discuss these results in more detail.
